From the very beginning, organic textures and serene fluidity have energized and fueled Penny’s creativity. When attending college in Washington, D. C., ornamental ginkgo trees were found scattered throughout campus. Upon the graceful falling of the leaves, Penny found their natural shape undeniable, a perfect translation to a pair of beautiful women’s earrings. Inspired, she set forth creating a collection of ginkgo leaf jewelry designed in 18 karat gold, which ultimately landed Penny her first Vogue appearance in 1980.
